The Lived Expertise Advisory Council (LEAC) formally launched in October of 2021 and is specifically for people currently experiencing or have previously experienced homelessness. The LEAC recommends action steps to the NC BoS CoC Steering Committee and service providers to improve CoC policies and best practices based on insights and expertise from experiencing homelessness firsthand. The LEAC meets monthly by zoom. LEAC members additionally participate in the NC BoS CoC Steering Committee and various subcomittees toward a goal of lived expertise being present at every decision making conversation.

Purpose

The purpose of the NC BoS Lived Expertise Advisory Council (LEAC) is to improve the provision of services to people experiencing homelessness, and the policies that govern these services, across the NC Balance of State CoC through insights and expertise that come from people experiencing homelessness firsthand.
