Description

This webinar will look at a number of strategies adopted by homeless service agencies to improve employment opportunities and retention. Participants will learn about several employment models including individual placement and support, transitional jobs, alternative staffing, and customized employment. Presenters will describe the unique features of each model and provide recommendations for integrating the right model into practice settings. The Individual Placement and Support (IPS) model, recognized by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) as an evidence-based practice will be highlighted in a case example. Attendees will learn how IPS can be successfully applied in supportive housing to improve employment among people who have histories of homelessness, substance use disorders and criminal activities.
