Description
"The Value of Design in Affordable Housing"
There is a recognized and documented need for quality affordable housing in North Carolina. The current mortgage crisis and economic downturn have resulted in an increased urgency to formulate and apply effective strategies. At the center is design. Sensitive, skillful and innovative design solutions are essential to comprehensively address issues such as community acceptance, life cycle costs, sustainability, adaptability, response to context, meaning and quality of life. The 2009 Affordable Housing Symposium will bring together national and local housing experts who will provide specific design approaches and models appropriate to address the critical housing needs of North Carolina.
The symposium includes presentations by nationally recognized experts in affordable housing who will present best practices appropriate to North Carolina, and responses by local housing advocates and providers. The conference organizers will moderate sessions and there will be ample time for questions, discussion, and networking.
