The training will take place in Video Conferencing Studios 114 and 115 in the Communications Building on the campus of Mount Olive College campus. You may find a map of the campus here. The Communications Building is #17 on the map and the parking lot for the building is D. 
 
NCCEH does not provide refunds for events. However, substitutions are allowed. Cancellations must be received 2 business days before the event or the registrant will be responsible for the registration fee. Please contact us at 919-755-4393.

In order to be accepted to participate in this training, you must first complete the training application form: Fill out Application Form Online

Please note, completing an application does not guarantee you a spot in the training. Your application will be reviewed and SOAR staff will contact you within 2 days of submission.

Workshop Highlights:

  • An in-depth, step-by-step explanation of the SSI/SSDI application and disability determination process
  • Strategies for working with homeless persons with serious mental illness and co-occurring disorders – only a fraction of this population receives the benefits to which they are entitled
  • Exercises and worksheets provide practical application tools
  • Samples and explanations of SSA and DDS paperwork and necessary reports

Training/Webinar

Presenters:
  • Kristin Lupfer and Pam Heine, Senior Project Associates, SAMHSA SOAR Technical Assistance Center, will discuss the importance of SOAR collaborations with the VA to better assist veterans with SSI and SSDI applications
  • Nancy Campbell, National Director, HUD-VASH Program, VA Central Office, Washington D.C., will provide a national perspective on the importance of SSI and SSDI for veterans, and the benefits of VA and SOAR collaboration
  • Veterans Benefits Administration Representative (TBN) will talk to the SOAR audience about the need for coordination of SSI/SSDI with VA disability benefits
  • Anthony Foster, Incarcerated Veterans Transitional Program, Goodwill Industries, Spokane, WA will describe how he assists veterans with SSI/SSDI applications using the SOAR approach.
