In order to be accepted to participate in this training, you must first complete the training application form: Fill out Application Form Online

Please note, completing an application does not guarantee you a spot in the training. Your application will be reviewed and SOAR staff will contact you within 2 days of submission.

Workshop Highlights:

  • An in-depth, step-by-step explanation of the SSI/SSDI application and disability determination process
  • Strategies for working with homeless persons with serious mental illness and co-occurring disorders – only a fraction of this population receives the benefits to which they are entitled
  • Exercises and worksheets provide practical application tools
  • Samples and explanations of SSA and DDS paperwork and necessary reports

Parking:  There is a large open parking lot off of Dillard Street immediately after the Durham County Human Services Complex with open parking, as well street parking on both sides of Main Street.
 
Getting to Training:  The Main Entrance for Durham County’s Human Services Complex is currently located off of Dillard Street.  Please proceed to the front desk to check-in and let the attendant know you are here for the SOAR Training and going to The Durham Center.  Please take the stairs or elevator to the 2nd floor and enter The Durham Center lobby.  You will be greeted by Durham Center staff and be guided to the third floor training space (secure location).
