Join us for the continuation of the Racial Equity Dialogue Series, presented by the NC Balance of State CoC Racial Equity Subcommittee! This will be the second session of our 2022 series. A panel discussion will be followed by time for Q&A.

Speakers to include:
Washella Simmons, PhD
Dr. Washella Turner Simmons is originally from North Carolina. She is currently an Associate Professor of English at Livingstone College in Salisbury, North Carolina. She has been teaching for 23 years with 20 of those years in higher education. She has taught in Florida, Pennsylvania, and Georgia. Her research interests include Afrofuturism as well as the depictions of interracial organizations for equal rights for African Americans in 20th-century African American literature.

Tambra Chamberlain
Tambra is a graduate of North Carolina State University with a Bachelor's in Social work with a minor in Psychology. Tambra has an extensive career in Human Services that spans over 35 years. For the past 18 years, Tambra has worked for Moore County Schools as a Licensed School Social Worker.
In 2020 Tambra transitioned into the Moore County Schools Lead Homeless Liaison and Foster Care Point of Contact. Tambra is a strong advocate for Unaccompanied Youth, and with the help of an interfaith committee, stakeholders continue to mobilize and educate others at the local, state, and national levels. Tambra Chamberlain has served on many community boards, and presently is a Board Director for the National Association for the Education of Homeless Children and Youth and a CEO of a Transitional Home for unaccompanied young women ages 18-24 in Pinehurst, N.C. Tambra is married and has two children, Mia and Malachi both attending Universities in North Carolina.
