US ICH Live Meeting Stream
On June 12th, the U.S. Interagency Council on Homelessness meeting, chaired by HHS Secretary Sebelius, will be streamed live at http://www.hhs.gov/live/. This meeting will focus on how we together will advance the goal of ending youth homelessness by 2020. Since last September, youth homelessness policy experts at many of the agencies on the Council have come together to gather what is known about youth homelessness, its prevalence, and solutions. This group has created and will put forth a framework to advance our goal of ending youth homelessness. Bryan Samuels, the Commissioner of the Administration of Children, Youth, and Families at HHS will present this framework to the Council and to all those viewing via webcast.
The Council has also gathered leading experts in the field for an interactive discussion with the Council and with the public streaming audience on the framework and on the recommendations proposed to achieve the goal of ending youth homelessness. Experts at the meeting include Dana Scott, State Coordinator for Homeless Education for the Colorado Department of Education and Vice President of the National Association for the Education of Homeless Children and Youth; Bob Mecum, Executive Director of Lighthouse Youth Services; and Nan Roman, President and CEO of the National Alliance to End Homelessness. Audience members will be able to submit their questions while the Council meeting is streaming to both the Secretaries and experts, as time allows.
This live webcast is an exciting opportunity for state and local government leaders, program administrators, service providers, and advocates to engage in a conversation about ending youth homelessness with those at the highest level of government and leaders in implementing solutions. The Council encourages all those who work with youth experiencing homelessness and those involved in this issue to tune in to this webcast and submit comments and questions.
