Emergency Solutions Grant Conference Call

The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) is expected to change the name of the Emergency Shelter Grants Program to the Emergency Solutions Grant in forthcoming months. Along with this change will be the issuance of new programmatic guidelines from HUD. As the state administering agency of the Emergency Solutions Grant, Office of Economic Opportunity (OEO) will issue amended administrative rules and also provide new programmatic guidelines.

OEO solicits the support of homeless providers and advocates to serve on the newly established North Carolina Emergency Solutions Grant Advisory Committee. The purpose of this committee is to advise how Emergency Solutions Grant funding can best enhance service delivery, complement existing funding directed to entitlement areas, and meet COC objectives including 10-Year Plans to End Homelessness. The advisory committee will help shape public policy and in doing so it will assist in creating a competitive model of funding for the North Carolina Emergency Solutions Grant.

The Emergency Solutions Grant Advisory Committee, composed of approximately 15 persons, will primarily consist of homeless providers representing transitional, day only, 24 hour, and domestic violence shelters from urban and rural communities in North Carolina. The advisory committee will also include representatives from the NC Balance of State Continuum of Care (COC).

OEO invites you to participate in a conference call to discuss the Emergency Solutions Grant and the North Carolina Emergency Solutions Advisory Committee. Please telephone 1-877-685-5350 and use passcode 319492 to learn about proposed changes.
